Hi there,
School’s Out started like every great idea—over a glass of wine and a shared passion for solving problems. But our story begins even earlier. We’re Anabel and Elyse, two best friends who met while training for an Ironman through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program back in 2011. As former professional athletes, we know the value of perseverance, teamwork, and going the extra mile—qualities we’ve carried into everything we do.
Anabel brings a background in community-building and product operations, while Elyse brings expertise in marketing and revenue, honed in the edtech sector. Together, we’ve built careers solving problems and creating meaningful solutions. But it wasn’t until we faced the chaos of planning kids’ activities that we decided to take on our biggest challenge yet.
As founders on a journey to simplify life for parents, we’ve seen firsthand how overwhelming it can be to juggle everything. Anabel, a mom of two, lives this every day in her hometown of Portland, Oregon. Scheduling kids’ activities can feel like a full-time job—yard sign announcements, mass text chains, even setting alarms for 3 am just to secure a summer camp spot. It’s no wonder the U.S. Surgeon General once declared parenting a health hazard!
We knew there had to be a better way. Parents today are the same consumers who built platforms like Amazon, Instagram, Airbnb, and DoorDash into everyday life, yet planning kids’ activities still feels stuck in the past. School’s Out is here to change that. Our vision is to create a seamless, modern experience that transforms planning into a pleasure, not a chore. By helping families discover and book enriching kids' activities with ease, we’re making space for more joy, more community, and more memories that matter most.
